They are different, but the same in concept... I don't think you understand what is going on..
When you O-Ring the block, you are puting a groove around the cylinder walls.. when you sandwich the piano wire and copper head gasket inplace between the block and head, the piano wire is lodged/held in place within the groove that surrounds the cylinder walls (at the top).. therefore once the head is bolted down tight, the cylinders shouldn't be able to move/vibrate anymore because they are in essence locked in place vs. free floating with just a stock headgasket as friction holding it in place..
get it?
Thanks

That's weird. I always thought that O-ringing the block was purely for a better seal. I've never heard of anyone using it for the purpose of keeping the floating cylinders stable.
Also, if you're worried about cooling problems on the upper part of the block or the lower part of the head, you could just modify the block guard to allow coolant to flow to those areas. Talking to people who've been running them, none said they've had any cooling problems. But then again, I guess it wouldn't show up on the water temp gauge.
Also, simply installing o-rings may keeps the cylinders from moving (I honestly don't have a clue), but the weakness would still lie on the sides of the cylinders.
However, I'd think the open deck would be fine for 10-15 pounds of boost. I've heard the cylinders don't start shifting until 20+ psi.

When i got my motor "fixed" the 1st time by CNM, I had them do this. Well after getting it back from Bensons to have it resleeved it was oringed. I have a copper head gasket and i think this will help it greatly for seating purposes and not letting anything move.
I personally don't think that the blockguard is needed if you resleeve it with new units.

Well, i don't really want to resleeve it..
at $900 its kinda pricey, if i can get away with just O-ringing it, then i will.. i would rather stay away from the blockguard if its going to interfere with cooling...
just need some opinions
